#In my view it really does say something very fucked up about the show’s standards and moral code #that the ONLY time Castiel was allowed to snap back at the protagonists and truly stand up for himself #(in an upfront way that couldn’t be ignored like his passive aggressive retort in 6.07 which Dean does indeed just ignore) #was when he had gone crazy and it was a symptom of how far off the rails he was and we were supposed to be horrified by the path he was on #Well sorry but no #You can’t put me through a season of Castiel being treated like shit #and just ACCEPTING that while he does his best to come through for Dean every time Dean barks orders at him #and expect me to be anything but satisfied when he’s finally allowed to snap back like this #And for the show to have this attitude where it’s like #good!Castiel whom we’re ‘allowed’ to love is the one who tolerates being used and spoken down to #while only crazy!Castiel whom we’re supposed to see as the bad guy is allowed to bite back #pretty much sickens me #The worth of a character shouldn’t be based on what they’re willing to tolerate from the leads of the show #particularly when they shouldn’t have to tolerate it at all #Castiel’s ‘side’- his feelings and his viewpoint- is not inherently less meaningful because he’s a minor character #But I personally feel like that’s what I was getting from season 6 time and time again #So yeah- it DOES feel good to see Castiel just stand up #and say ‘I don’t give a damn about you or your approval anymore- this is what I HAVE to do’ #But ugh- this is just an issue that bothers me constantly #Like Dean’s refusal to even consider killing his brother in the face of anything is beautiful and something to be in awe of #But Gabriel’s refusal as a minor character to kill his brother makes him a coward #who hilariously has to be called out by Dean of all people #Or if Lisa had ever erased Dean’s memories of hunting and Sam for his own good she would have been fucking crucified #but Dean takes away her memories of the last two years of her life and someone she loves against her will #and we’re supposed to sympathize with his sacrifice as he tears up over what HE’S lost #and gets to threaten Sam with violence for questioning his decision #It’s just all such bullshit and I’m having a rage breakdown which has caused me to lose track of the point #Let me get back to it by saying sometimes I just want to scream #’I care about the feelings and opinions of your minor characters!’ at the writers til I’m blue in the face

# I’ve always cared about the minor characters # in pretty much every show I’ve ever watched # so I had plenty of time to get used to not having as much focus on my favourite characters as I would like # but I never felt that the characters I love where treated with the kind of disrespect # and double standards # they have to endure on supernatural lately

For all the comments above - we all feel the same way and I’m so glad that we are not afraid to say how we feel anymore.
